How information is handled
Information we collect
We collect information you provide, including your email address, display name, password, and account settings. Passwords are stored as secure hashes rather than readable passwords. We also store email-verification and password-reset records needed to protect and recover accounts.
When you use the card room, we collect table codes, seats, game state and history, player actions, participation records, wins, losses, tricks won, timestamps, and related statistics. We may also collect limited technical and security information such as IP address, browser and device information, session data, application logs, and bot-detection signals.
How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts, verify email addresses, recover passwords, create and restore game tables, reserve seats, operate computer players, enforce game rules, calculate statistics, provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, troubleshoot and improve the service, and comply with legal obligations.
Information visible to other players
Players at the same table can see your display name, seat, public game actions, table announcements, and results. They do not receive your email address, password, private account information, or hidden cards from Charbs Card Room. Authorized administrators can access account and participation information when needed to operate, support, and protect the service.
Cookies and local device features
Charbs Card Room uses a necessary session cookie to keep you signed in and protect account actions. Device-level preferences and supported turn-alert features may use browser storage or browser capabilities. We do not use advertising cookies or sell behavioral profiles.
Service providers and disclosures
We use service providers to operate Charbs Card Room, including Mailgun for account and password email, Google reCAPTCHA for bot and abuse prevention, and hosting and database providers. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information to providers working on our behalf; when required by law, legal process, or a valid government request; to protect users, rights, and service integrity; or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of the business.
Retention and deletion
We generally retain account information and game records while an account or table remains active and as reasonably needed for rejoining, player statistics, administration, security, and dispute resolution. You may remove an open game from your lobby, but that does not by itself delete your account or all historical participation records.
To request account deletion, email hello@charbs.cards. Limited information may remain temporarily in logs, backups, provider systems, or records that must be retained for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, including password hashing, email verification, limited-use recovery tokens, server-side game state, and access controls. No website, network, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your password private and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
Your choices
You may review account statistics and update your display name through your profile. Email addresses cannot currently be changed through the profile. For access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests, email hello@charbs.cards. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Age restriction
Charbs Card Room accounts are limited to people who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information through accounts belonging to children or minors. If you believe a minor has created an account or provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate.
Google reCAPTCHA
Account registration and public password recovery are protected by Google reCAPTCHA. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service.
Policy changes and contact
We may update this policy as our practices, providers, or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy here and update its effective date. Privacy questions may be sent to hello@charbs.cards.
